It's been more than a hundred years since the Rush of '98, and men came to the Klondike from all over the world in search of riches. But one name towers above all others in the history of British North America. The one who pioneered the use of the spectrum for power, who distilled and crystallized moonlight, who powered the Gilded age of the early twentieth century, that of course being Professor Horne.
Professor Horne had been an adventurer, aeronaut, and physicist but after his major discoveries, instead of returning to London like everyone expected, retired to his plantation on the confluence of the Mitnuskis and Kennick Rivers in a very remote section of His Majesty's Crown Colony of Alaska. This is by no means to say that he was no longer active, but his attention turned to more domestic and esoteric matters.
